What HouseLens Does
HouseLens is a Chrome extension that helps users evaluate home listings they are actively viewing. It displays property facts, monthly cost estimates, public-data summaries, public-record research links, school geography context, buyer checklists, tour verification prompts, reports, and saved comparisons in a Chrome side panel.
Information Processed
HouseLens may read listing information from supported real estate pages, including address, listing price, square footage, bedrooms, bathrooms, page title, and source URL. Users may also type an address manually.
Local Storage
Saved homes, settings, and any optional Census API key entered by the user are stored locally in Chrome storage on the user's device. Users can clear saved homes inside the extension.
Third-Party Requests
When a user analyzes an address, HouseLens may send the address or derived coordinates/geography to US Census services, Census Reporter, FCC Census Area lookup, FEMA flood-map services, FEMA NFIP community-status services, FEMA Community Disaster Resilience Zone services, National Weather Service alerts, NOAA National Water Prediction Service, CDC PLACES public health datasets, USDA ERS food-access and food-environment map services, EPA public data services, EPA ECHO/SDWIS drinking-water services, EPA Radon Zone data, USGS earthquake and seismic-design services, OpenStreetMap/Overpass services, Nominatim, Photon, National Risk Index map services, wetlands map services, and elevation services to retrieve public safety, flood, environmental, geography, civic-area, health-context, food-access, drinking-water, terrain, structure/indoor-health, and nearby-place information. If a user configures a backend API URL in the extension, HouseLens may send property information to that backend to retrieve additional data.
Payments
If paid plans are offered through the HouseLens website, payment details are processed by the payment provider and are not stored in the Chrome extension. The extension package does not include payment-provider secret keys.
Past Residents
HouseLens does not collect or display past residents' names, contact information, emails, phone numbers, or social profiles. Public ownership, deed, tax, sale, and permit records are included only as property due-diligence links.
Political Information
HouseLens does not collect or display individual party affiliation, individual voting records, or residents' political views. Civic and election content is limited to county-level public context and official links.
Data Sale
HouseLens does not sell user data.
Remote Code
HouseLens does not use remote code. Extension scripts are included in the extension package.
Contact
For privacy requests, contact the developer through the support email listed on the Chrome Web Store listing. If you operate HouseLens through a company or dedicated domain, replace this sentence with that legal name and support email before public launch.
